Northern Maine's Total Solar Eclipse

April 8, 2024! 

On April 8, 2024 – around 3pm – Northern Maine will experience a total solar eclipse. A solar eclipse happens when the moon aligns just right to block the light from the sun. For a total eclipse, the alignment needs to be near perfect, making this a rare and special sight. Maine’s next chance isn’t until May 2079!
